No he wasn't. He won 1 good fight against Porter where he clinched himself a victory. Kell Brook then went to 160lbs for a beating and came back down.

Don't get me wrong, definitely a good win by Spence, but let's not act like Kell Brook was some undisputed top dog. Brook himself only faced 1 good opponent.

You can look up the old threads before the fight. Brook was still seen as the best welterweight. I don't see any other welter doing to Brook what Spence did that night. A lot of posters even predicted Spence wouldn't travel to the UK. He beat a top welter in his hometown. That's a signature victory.

He has to earn his way up.

I feel like he's earned his worth when he went to the UK and snatched the belt from its rightful owner in Kell. I also don't feel like he has to move up or that he deserves criticism because no one in the division dares to be great.

With that being said, I think Spence beats anyone with a strap at 154. I've always respected your opinion on the scene even since before I made an account but I have a hard time understanding why people don't see how other boxers are avoiding Spence.

spence is going through exactly what GGG went through but extrangely nobody is asking him to move up for example and also are justifying mandatories bouts (like this one) also they are saying "nobody is willing to step up". the same happened to GGG with the difference that most of the possible opponents for spence happen to be managed by haymon just like himself, so fights should be easier to make for him than it was for GGG. but he young doe....
