Just the fact that you seriously even considered Jermain Taylor to be an uncle Tom shows you are pretty naive, at the least, and not a good judge of people.

It's pretty obvious Taylor is just a down-to-earth guy, and is respectful towards all except in the ring, where he carries a chip on his shoulder from being picked on so much in his childhood.

Taylor is very nice, and polite...I guess people are so unaccustomed to seeing that, so they wonder if Taylor is an 'Uncle Tom'.

The Uncle Tom stereotype is used predominently to describe Black men who ass kiss white men. The Southern drawl and extra politeness makes it easy to percieve Jermaine as a Uncle tom. Is he in fact? i don't know if anybody saw his olympic run for the gold medal. But even back then he used to tell the nbc interviewer "yes, sir" and the interview at the end told taylor not to call him sir, but at the end of the interview taylor called him "sir"
