Here's another Southern phrase with double meaning. "My, MY that sho' is a pretty dress. Did'ja make it yo self?" HAHAHAHA!

No you didn't. You're just trying to take back what you've said to cover yourself because you've realized what an idiot you have to be to ask such a question in the first place... I really wish you'd just stay banned.

True. It's like you need an encription code on some "southernisms" to know if someone is complementing you or politely insulting you while smiling at the same time.

I'm suprised you've asked a question like this Anorak, seeing as you're such a big Danny Williams fan, and as me and you both know, theres no bigger gentleman in the sport of boxing than Danny Williams.

However, not everybody means it in a bad way on the "dress thing"...there was a time when sewing skills were held in high regard. It really depends on the age and backgroudn of the individual southerner. If she's from the ****ry (country) then it is probably a sincere complement; but if she's of "southern belle" heritage, she just slapped you in public.

Time to ban this moron who accuses others of being racist as a knee-jerk reaction and can't take the caps lock off. The only "prick" around here is the one between your girlfiend's legs.

I was curious to see a reaction to a question, including yours. It does amuse me in a wry way that I have to wade through post after post of Brit bashing, yet give an American even a moderate tease and they'll go on a WMD hunt for it.

And K-Dogg, thanks for the graciously put info.
