they way I see it, you are technically correct
the problem is, boxing is not about technicalities
Hopkins did not technically " may have beaten Trinidad "..... he actually did beat Trinidad
and Golovkin talked about 154 both before and after refusing to negotiate on weight with Cotto/Canelo
you guys called Canelo a middleweight, because he won the WBC belt by beating a faded JMW who weighed 153, at 155..... but Trinidad beat Joppy
sounds like everyone (not just you) is picking and choosing when to apply technicalities, and when to apply common-sense
fair call about 155Comment

One of GGG's best wins Lemuix was KTFO by Rubio. And career 154 lb Alcine beat him.
And Geale tiny Cotto smashed him 1 round later then GGG did.Comment

That's how they roll. Fighter is DOG sht before then is a future, HoFamer, BADDEST dude on the planet. Top 5 P4Per when fights GGG.
I remember these jack asses trying to convince me how GREAT House Arrest Wade was. And I felt he LOST to 100 year old Salimon!Comment

they do count
referring to Trinidad as a welter is ridiculous nonsense
really ridiculous
whilst it may be possible to belittle some of Hopkins/Golovkin's opponents..... Trinidad is not one of them..... he was a 3/1 favorite in that fight
after Tito knocked out Joppy, nobody gave Hopkins a chance
Canelo and Jacobs do count (even if you think Jacobs beat Golovkin, because it is in the book..... you have to assume Hopkins got similarly favorable decisions, and he did)..... but the first 11 defences of the regular title is the problem imhoComment

Seems to be a lot of confusion on this thread.
1. If you are strictly talking about 160, ggg has fought more quanity of quality opponents.
2.hopkins is the better fighter, but if just going by 160, ggg has defended better.
3. Hopkins lost to a top mw in Roy Jones, then beat up a bunch of cringe contenders for the rest of the 90s
4.glen johnson wasn’t the fighter you all think of when he fought Hopkins. Young glen johnson was a counterpuncher that tried to be slick. It was until Hopkins carved him up and glen started fighting the euro champs that he changed his style into the rugged road warrior everyone knows. Good win by Hopkins, but glen was not good as a counterpuncher, and it wasn’t until a complete change of style when glen achieved any real success.
5.hopkins best win was Tito, golovkin’s is Jacobs or draw with canelo. Tito >>> Jacobs or canelo
6. Allen, Echols, Eastman, Holmes, old joppy, Carl Daniels, aren’t as good as geale, Murray, macklin, kell, lemuix overall, especially considering when in their careers they fought
7. Most of hopkins best moments came above 160
8. 160- Canelo, Jacobs, Murray, geale, lemuiex, macklin > Tito, Holmes, Echols, joppy, Allen, johnsonComment
