Trinidad, even at MW, was better than Jacobs when Hopkins fought him.

Jacobs had Quillin, Mora, Truax, and a KO loss to Pirog. He was seen as chinny and was underdog to lose.

Trinidad knocked out Olympic Gold Medalist undefeated David Reid at 154, undefeated IBF 154 champ Fernando Vargas, and #2 ranked 32-1 Joppy at 160. Trinidad was undefeated, known to have a great chin to go with his devastating power, and was favored to beat Hopkins by TKO.
