  • Comments Thread For: Jacobs Would Think Long and Hard' About Derevyanchenko Fight

NEW YORK Potential fights against Gennady Golovkin, Jermall Charlo and Billy Joe Saunders were discussed with more optimism in the aftermath of Daniel Jacobs' win over Maciej Sulecki. But there's another challenging fight for Jacobs, however awkward it might seem, that could become an attractive option for the former WBA middleweight champion. If Gennady Golovkin gives up his IBF middleweight title or is stripped by that sanctioning organization, Jacobs could be offered a fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who works with Andre Rozier, the same man that trains Jacobs.

Looks like Charlo will get a title shot one way or another here. But it's interesting, Jacobs has never won a title at MW (I don't count that regular nonsense). It would be hard to walk away from the opportunity, right?

I agree...he's likely just being polite right now...would be hard to imagine him turning down that opportunity if it came about.

I think the Charlo fight is the biggest out there aside from GGG, Nelo or Saunders.
He would also have a chance to win the interim WBC title. Make it happen.

Well the way it looks, one of them will be fighting for a vacant IBF belt soon. So we'll be waiting on that fight.

I wouldn't want Andre Rozier to be put in that situation! FAMILY FIRST! Jacobs vs. Murata! Charlo vs. Dervy! Let's Go!

Yeah I can agree with that
Still must be in the back of Jacobs head though
Not sure he would want that fight especially at this moment
Big fight but imo low reward
Or maybe no reward at all

I would change the atmosphere in the gym! Not worth it! Jacobs should go to Tokyo, fight Murata, get paid, and come back with that strap! He'll still be in line for GGG vs. Canelo winner. Now if Charlo gets that strap from Dervy, then Jacobs should target Charlo for a title fight in Brooklyn!

I like DJ, but he makes it to easy for people to pass on him by his performances in the ring. He comes off of the biggest fight of his career with GGG and then comes back with two duds. Hearn set him up to look like a world beater in his last two fights and he looked like he was on that level. HBO and that biased crew can not fool people into wanting to see you in big fights if you cant perform. They need to put him in a 50/50 fight to force him to fight and stop being so lack luster.
