Lack of Charisma. When Adrien Broner is 1 of the top 5 draws in boxing, well theres a problem...

Joshua backs up in a straight line a lot giving a stiff arm and lacks lateral movement

spence-hands to low, chin to high, defense has to many holes...needs to work more behind his jab

Big baby miller is a top heavy.

He has the worst defense I have ever Seen. If he fought a wilder, povetkin, joshua type he's going to get hurt

I've never seen him move his head

Loma-very skilled but a great pressure fighter would give him fits because he has wasted movement and lacks real power and his defense also has holes if you are willing to press him

Mikey-Great fundamentals, but if you are willing to let your hands go and have skills you can expose his lack of speed and his stiffness..He also lacks punch variety IMO

Crawford-Solid, Solid fighter but he switches to much and you have to know he is lacking due to the fact of his switches, the dog in him covers up alot of his mistakes

-Spence; Trusts his ability to out-gun opponents in intense firefights. Might get caught some day.
-Canelo; Gets careless when he feels in control, neglects corner advice.
-Wilder; Does not guard chin, uses jerking head movement as defense, shifts his weight too far off the center line, making him off balance.

                    Wow!

Impressive commentary from some of my favorite posters!

I think as a trend, we have a lot of people entering the sport later, and hence some amateurish habits that we see. Im going to run with that and say that generally it is a flaw when you have bad habits right out in the open. It takes a lot of time to wipe bad habits away hence the trend.

Another flaw is the style seems to have shifted to a sort of amateur hybrid...Ray Corso talks about the ammy style these days and I agree. This style is stilted, it discourages offensive commitment and is too "safety first" because fighters have to shield their flaws instead of put their best foot forwards.

Now let me go into a few specifics: A kid like Chris Eubanks who has great potential, actually reminds me a little of Broner lol im not kidding larry! and they are so concerned with his career that they overlook his abilities and put him in with a guy who is cute and experienced enough to really make Eubanks fail. That would be Grove. Compare that to nando for example, who was brought around, fine tuned, and fed a steady diet of good opponents that he could beat before he jumped up...

But in that fight it was pathetic. Eubanks had no concept of putting his punches together, setting them up. His defense was off because it depends entirely on his offensive ability, he could not cut the ring off, balance himself properly, etc. Major flaws all of which could have been ironed out and corrected in another few fights with the right approach.

Lets do Parker since nobody has hit him up yet: Now here is a kid ******ized in a remote part of the world really. What is stopping him from looking at film of the premier heavyweight boxer puncher? Joe Louis?! Louis was taken apart and put back together by Bradburn!! Yet even a young Louis was outfoxed because of a bad habit exposed...bad habits, a telegraph can kill a boxer puncher!! parker has good instincts but has no ability to cut the ring, to pressure a bigger fighter, to set up his punches off the jab. And he has to explode into his hits...he is not heavy handed.

lets compare Tyson habitually to Parker: Tyson looked sharp and focused and like Dempsey at his best! People who know how to look at tape could see Tyson use pivots like Dempsey did as well. Parker on the other hand does not look like any great boxer puncher....not like Evander, Louis, etc. When you study one of the greats its a good template to start with. So parker is a boxer puncher who backs off, weight drops out of the way yet hardly counters...cannot really maximize his leverage, and has not made his punch explosive and efficient.

Ironickly I would say that Wilder has the right idea. He may hold hands low and do silly things but what he can do is find a way to attack and hit his opponent. Like most ambush fighters he stays away until he wants to attack...he should perhaps watch David haye as a model. Wilder's flaws imo are that he needs to be more active, throw more punches, become more active like Holyfield and mix in punches designed to just stun with his big shots....mexican fighters do this a lot as well, its sort of like a change up. Throw the punches at different speeds and then come in for the kill.
