I sure hope this fight comes off, it'll answer a lot of questions
    about Cotto.

I see it going down like this. If Gatti gets past baldy he will fight again in January but not against Cotto or Hatton, probablyt make a title defense against a stay busy guy in the top 20 and face the winner of cotto hatton a year from now inthe summer then win or lose that fight, I think he may have one more swan song fight in AC, so 3-4 more fights left for Arturo "Thunder" Gatti. ***Dec. 2 is too early a date for Gatti, Gatti hasnt fought 3 times in year since 2000, his body cant do it no more.

I like this news. It's either Gatti or Hatton for Cotto. A very good fight to look forward to before the end of the year.

Cotto will blast him out in brutal fashion, and then people will go off on tangents about Cotto beating a way past prime B level fighter who only loses to top comp anyway.

Cotto is going to be extremely strong at 147. Cutting weight like he's been doing has been very unhealthy for him. The 7 pound difference will have a significant impact in his coordination and balance.

Hopefully this fight will not happen. Gatti is washed up and he is fighting a washed up Baldomir who is looking towards retirement. Cotto please step your game up and fight a top contender. Mayweather called Gatti a C level fighter and made him look like one. Don't get me wrong, Gatti has alot of heart but why would people consider Gatti a big step up for Cotto?

                  3. Lacy

....something tells me that Gatti will be hurt by Cotto though. Speed is what usually kills Gatti though, so Cotto is the type of fighter that Gatti can do well against. I dont know, we'll see if he can get it done on July 22nd first then we can debate.
Gatti's one of my favorite fighters, too, and I agree with you 100 %. Cotto is quick and strong, and most of all, a much better fighter than Arturo. Gatti could catch him, and wobble him a few times, but eventually Buddy McGirt would have to throw in the towel, because there's very little quit in Arturo.

I know Gatti's past it, but they're basically the same fighter. They're doing the same thing, they're both too big for 140 and now they'll both be where they belong. Cotto will have no size or strength advantage over Gatti as he'll probably weigh the same as he has in the past on fight night anyway, the difference will be the opponent. I think if Gatti tries to outbox him, then Cotto wins. Not because Cotto is a better boxer, just because he'll put more pressure on Gatti if Gatti offers no resistance. If Gatti goes in there and lets his hands go, then I give him the edge because I believe he has the better chin and his heart has already been tested against better opponents than Cotto, opponents that actually have power and can fight for more than 4 or 5 rounds. If Cotto does what you say he'll do, then I'll give him all the credit in the world. As of yet however, I just don't see what's so special about him, he's a guy that comes to fight in good shape, and has always fought smaller opponents until now if this fight happens.

Gatti would be by far the biggest opponent Cotto has ever faced.
If Torres could knock Cotto down and have him staggering around the ring, then a 155 lb. Gatti certainly could. Gatti not only has heart but he has plenty of power and puts his punches together very well when he decides to.
