  • Even Wilders die hard fans are asking where the money is coming from.

You think Hearn wont do the same? He's smart and he's not going to risk not getting paid and having to sue Team Wilder in a costly lawsuit spanning a few years.

Team Wilder are basing their projections on primetime US PPV. Wilder and AJ have never done PPV before in America.

That makes these numbers pure fantasy right now.

I'm typing this stuff as if it's only $50 million. AJ will take that money because he is a very clever businessman for his age. There is no loser here. They both are facing very dangerous punching power & I don't blame either for demanding top pay especially since that May-Mac joke of a "never-should-have-been" sanctioned exhibition.
I agree, I'm just surprised. AJ put that number out there much like Mayweather does with his $100m thing. But AJ is nowhere near the recognition of Mayweather, he's had 21 fights.

Say what you like about Hearn, he know's the finances of boxing and he know's what they pull in for AJ, and you could tell even his eyes are wide at the idea of $50m. He knows Wilders team will struggle, but the cheeky Hearn was hinting the business model has some validity, mentioning that maybe Wilder gets $20m out of it, clever bit of reverse psychology cos they need to pull in mega numbers for him to get that kind of pay day. That pressure alone could change things for Wilder.

It's a risky deal for Wilder's side really. $50m is more than Mayweather was guaranteed against Canelo, the $ in that fight were easier to see, it was always doing 1+m buys in Mexico alone. I just think this could go very sideways for Wilder, AJ could be laughing all the way to the bank and Wilder left waiting on a title shot for another 2 years.

You call it a loss of revenue because if the rematch clause is in place, alongside agreement on revenue sharing, location etc. Then they are confident enough in the product and their capacity to sell it to progress on a 2 fight basis.

If as you say it was a destruction, on either side, then there would still be a 'redemption' narrative to sell or alternatively a 'prove it was no fluke'. To be honest a destruction may be better than a 12 round boreathon, although that's unlikely with these fighters.

In any case I'd be happy to see one fight, no rematch clause. As you say it would add excitement. I don't think it will happen, primarily because one party here has a lot more to lose. Time will tell however.

        • The offer will not happen. It just shows how gullible some boxing fans are.

Mayweather, a proven draw, was able to command 40 million guarantees. They were certain enough about his ability to make money that they would pony up that much money.

Good luck convincing someone to part with 50 million.

No. He sent an email to let Joshua and the world know that the offer sent from his team is there. He said to check Hearn and McCracken personally. Yet somehow were suppose to believe wilder sent this as a bs email and didn't have everything else in order. Now the most powerful broker in boxing who's put together the biggest fights in boxing history suddenly can't come up with 50m to guarantee the fight. Get outta here with the fan boy bs. You really look silly today.

Funny. You had this to say about contracts vs offers...

Why would you now expect to see a contract before everything is agreed ?
Because the offer is so unbelievable it cannot be believed until they see one? Because there's literally days left until the Povetkin negotiations deadline and a purse bid for a mandatory is ordered?
