Taylor is just not good at countering Winky, period. Winky's fast hands and southpaw style annoy Taylor. Winky definitely had the faster hands. But Taylor was not threatened by Winky's power, so he felt ok just letting Winky tee off on him sometimes. Taylor alluded to this after the fight with his answers to Merchant's questions about why he stayed in the corner.
In the rematch (which needs to be held in a neutral spot like Vegas or Foxwoods) Taylor needs to be wary of camping out in the corner, regardless of whether or not he feels Winky is able to hurt him.
Additionally, Taylor needs to:
1) Keep his left hand up high to block Winly's jab.
2) Don't abandon the body attack, which was working when Taylor wanted it to.
3) Throw more combonations in general.
all taylor has to do is keep the jab in winkys face and when winky can get close tee off on him and send him back as taylor did in parts of the fight.
as for the corner he wasn't doing as bad as you think, all he had to do was lead with a right hand or jab and throw combinations everytime taylor threw in combinations winky backed off
i didn't think lacy was a good sparring partner for winky but apparently he was, and now im sure that winky takes a lot of punchs in sparring. that way he came at taylor tells me this. and plus taylor hurt winky more then any punchs winky hit taylor with. in a rematch, i'll say it again cause i belive this, taylor if he goes for the ko will tko winky.

Taylor was doing exactly as bad as I think he was. Winky won the exchanges easily in the corner, until later in the fight. But despite Taylor's countering later in the fight, Winky was getting the best of it in the corners as he landed many clean shots. Taylor would often just sit there and do little to nothing.
Taylor can TKO Winky, but not if he doesn't take Winky's aggression seriously. Taylor seems to think it's ok to get hit a lot just because Winky has mediocre power. That's how you lose fights.
You can make a case for the fight being a close Wright win.. you can even make a case for the fight being a draw.. but Taylor did not win that fight, Wright had him backing up (and this, "that Jermaine's plan" bs can stop now) and he was outboxed him, scoring more EVERY round.. the end, next fight.
I had Winky winning by a round but it was very close and I was satisfied when a draw was announced.
I don't put too much in to Winky storming out like that. He's a proud guy and his emotions got the better of him. He's one of the best fighters in the sport but he never gets the credit and paydays a lot of other fighters his callibur do so I can see how he has a bitter streak.
He just fought his heart out in that ring and put on a great preformance and was really deflated because he felt he won. He'll get over it, and he's already (and continues) to say some very positive things about Taylor.
I think once he's cooled off a bit there will be some serious talk of a rematch.
The fight was one of the best fights for a high profile match in some time. Not only was it action packed (like many feared it wouldn't be) but it was a display of technical savvy unparalelled in a long time.

Frankly, you are a huge Wright fan and you've made no bones about that in the past.
So really, it is not that 'simple' at all. You could score it for Taylor just as easily as Wright. It all depends on what you prefer...harder punches, or a higher volume of punches.
Just because you land more punches every round, does not mean you win every round.

Exactly.
If a huge Wright fan is even saying the fight could be a draw, i suppose it is the the right call.
There were many close rounds that could have gone either way.
You said you had Wright winning 8-4 or 9-3, which clearly shows you did not score that fight properly.
Your bais towards Winky interfered with your ability to score the fight, which is fine, but becuase you like Winky doesnt mean everyone has to agree with your analysis of the fight.

Buddy, this isn't amateur boxing. It isn't as clear cut as to "who lands the most shots." Taylor landed the harder, more effective shots all night. He hurt Winky multiple times in the fight.
