I just want to point out that this is now the second time in recent history that a hotly anticipated fight was cancelled due to an unexpected PED fail, and a Don King fighter got to step in.
First, Ortiz pops and we get stuck with Stiverne, who might as well have taken a dive.
Now, Canelo pops and we get stuck with Vanes, whose style seems to self-predict a brutal stoppage.
It's a horrible opponent but one circumstance set up..UNFORTUNATELY for us. Yet, if Golovkin goes in there distracted like champions in the past have anything can happen. Odds don't favor it but weirder sht has happened in boxing. We've seen plenty of distracted champions go into a ring and sht the bed in the past. Not saying it happens on May 5th but it could.
Odds??? Like the 100-1 I just saw??? Yup $100 will win you $1 betting on GGG. Clown GGG deserves his place in Historyat #1 WORST mismatches.
This is BS, however, I have ask this... why the hell would anyone be with Don King at this point?
Because you can disappear from boxing and then suddenly out of nowhere be gifted a title shot
Andrew Golota - April 17th 2004 steps in out of nowhere to face Byrd for IBF Heavyweight title without being a top 10 ranked fighter
Bermane Stiverne - November 4th 2017 without fighting for two years, Stiverne is somehow the mandatory challenger for the WBC Heavyweight title without being a top 10 ranked fighter
Vanes Martirosyan - May 5th 2018 without fighting for two years, and winning for almost three years, Martirosyan is granted a title shot for WBA, WBC and IBF Middleweight titles without being a top 10 ranked fighter.
Those are just the three that jumped off the top of my head. But there seems to be a theme here.
