Golovkin deserves to be stripped of the IBF belt. For years we chided champs for dodging Golovkin. It goes both ways. Your mandatory is due, you fight. You don’t, you lose the belt.

It was explained already, they couldn't generate enough money in such a short period for the Derevyanchenko fight to make sense for May 5th. That fight is deserving of its own build up and promotional tour etc.

If the IBF had agreed to a voluntary defense on May, then whats the issue? They can call a mandatory for a later fight though. But not in May.

I don’t think Gennady should be stripped and punished essentially because Canelo decided to cheat and his team decides for a stay busy fight instead of a tough Mando on short notice that could potentially f.uck up a big $ rematch with Canelo or a legacy fight for all the straps against Saunders

I won’t pretend to know all the sanctioning bodies rules but don’t think it’s the right choice

If the IBF wants to lose a bunch of $ in sanctioning fees and Devachenko wants a undeserving strap so be it.

Regarding the fight, was Derevy willing to fight on the 5th? If so, then choosing Vanes is complete bullshyt.
But, I thought he wanted a later date and, in that situation, I'm sympathetic to Golovkin's team wanting to save the date. I won't really blame them for that since there's a lot of money and prep tied up in this.

Regardless, if he's not defending that belt needs to go.
