Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Suspended for Six Months for Failing PED Tests

See I think a year of inactivity (and not being able to drug cycle) hurts Canelo more than 4 months of aging hurts GGG, but we'll see.No surprises there. Suspension to create appearances, but no fine and only 6 months suspension. Give me a break. But if GGG doesn't get injured in the fight on May 5, he should be able to resume training and make it for Sept.15. If they postpone until May 2019, I'm afraid GGG might be a bit too old then for this sh$t. But all in all the delay plays in Canelo's favour.Comment

Derevyanchenko and Murata are in rotation before Charlo I think. And a Saunders unification would trump any of them I believe. Charlo is a good fight, but don't be too surprised if Golovkin loses before he even gets there. There's certainly 3 fights to happen first and also every likelihood of a Canelo rematch at some point which the WBC will certainly sanction over Jermall... Golovkin will be about 38 by the time Jermall's turn comes round by my reckoning, if he's still even fighting.Comment

Sounds like what most people expected. Get him right back into testing and let's get this rematch in September.
This at least makes it evident that a fighter is responsible for even potentially inadvertent drug consumption. Would suck to train Mexico now tho.Comment

the reason is NSAC has different rules, for them even if it was unintentional there is got to be a sanction, negligence is punished and rightfully so...
from golden boy:
“As we have maintained all along,” Golden Boy’s statement read, “the trace amounts of clenbuterol found in Canelo’s system in February came from meat contamination, and we provided the Nevada State Athletic Commission with a great deal of evidence to support those facts. Although most professional sports, international anti-doping agencies and United States boxing commissions treat meat contamination differently from other positive tests, Nevada does not.Last edited by icha; 04-18-2018, 01:13 PM.Comment
