Comments Thread For: Jacobs Didn't Seriously Consider Replacing Canelo On Short Notice

Daniel Jacobs badly wants to fight Gennady Golovkin again. Not so much, though, that Jacobs seriously considered volunteering to replace Canelo Alvarez once the suspended superstar pulled out of his May 5 rematch against Golovkin two weeks ago. Jacobs already was deep into training camp for his April 28 fight against Maciej Sulecki when Alvarez withdrew, thus he didn't think it was a realistic option.

Plus he needs that weight advantage and not fallow the IBF rule.

This is pretty much what a lot of guys in here were saying but hell, if GGG isn't trying to fight Segiy then he damn sure wouldnt fight Jacobs so it doesn't matter if Jacobs gave it a thought or not.

Just to confirm, you took an article that said Jacobs didn't want to fight Golovkin, and are trying to flip it around.

        Nice.

Lol it's impressive isn't it. I thought they would just avoid this article like the plague...but they just refuse to give GGG any credit

It was a good fight. Very close in my eyes, if he didn't get that knock down who knows.

So in other words Danny Jacobs is just selling wolf tickets but doesn't really want the triple g rematch...
I'm sure he could of worked out a deal to cancel the fight with Sulecki in order to fight Triple g if he had wanted too...
Typical big mouth fighter! Says he wants the big fights but ends up fighting an unknown...
Don't ever wanna hear this fool mention Triple g's name again!

GGG haters see this decision for the perfectly sensible choice that it is. But if GGG does the same thing is a duck. Haters gonna hate.

I seriously hope we see Danny in a better fight after this. since the GGG figth hes fought 2 scrubs nobody wants to see. He doesn't have to go right to Canelo or GGG but can we at least get him in against Charlo, Derevyanchenko, hell I'd even take Lemieux just give us something worth watching

All of these guys at 160 are very comical imo. Everybody at the top are all businessmen lol weirdly all of them are in preparation for a fight right now and in theory could've made a big clash happen. Any combination of GGG, Andrade, SD, Jacobs, Charlo, and BJS would've been awesome. Instead everybody has found a way to weasel out of a meaningful fight.

I think we'll get SD v. Andrade soon for the IBF belt, so that's cool, but it's rough as a fan of the MW division right now.

I understand that Canelo screwed up things for GGG, but there were some money fights to be made.
