The IBF rules state.
"If a champion participates in an unsanctioned contest within his prescribed weight limit, the title will be declared vacant whether the champion wins or loses the bout. The championships committee, with the approval of the (IBF) president, will then establish a new champion in that division in accordance with the procedures established and prescribed in these rules."

Absolutely ridiculous. Vanes was competitive with Charlo Lara and trout. He's a damn sight better than a lot of fighters that supposed champs fight. I wasn't aware that every other titlist was fighting some 50/50 fightComment

these belts are total BS at times, this is a short notice stay busy fight to see if clen can sort himself out for later this year, if not then a unification fight or mandatory fight, everyone knows golovkin wants the money fight, who wouldnt?Comment

I don't agree with the IBF here. These are unusual circumstances which require exercising discretionary action to ensure the intent of the regulations are met, and not just use the rule book to slap fighters around.
*Never mind, I thought GGG had been stripped.Last edited by Zaryu; 04-18-2018, 11:13 AM.Comment
