I actually didn't care if he fought Vanes so long as he fought his mandatory or unified next. Good call by the IBF though.

Yeah, those rules have been posted on here time after time. Yet, he still hasn't defended in 2 years. Per their rules he should have been stripped long ago.

They have to ENFORCE it. There's a reason they turned down Vanes and said they have to approve of a voluntary. If they weren't approving of any voluntary, they would've informed them that they are enforcing the Sergiy fight. You get what I'm saying now?

I get what you're saying. I get the rules. I get the mandatory.

We're going in circles though. If the IBF enforces it, I'm all for it. I don't want GGG to weasel his way out of an enforced mandatory.

If they didn't have to enforce it, GGG would be stripped right now.

They pretty much said they have to approve of the fighter that GGG chooses as a voluntary defense.

I say that to say this: had they ENFORCED the Sergiy fight, they wouldn't even be saying they have to approve of an opponent of a voluntary defense because there would be NO voluntary defense if they indeed were ENFORCING the mandatory.

You get what I'm saying now? We're in agreement, you're just taking things wrong as if I want that Vanes fight.
You’re wrong, the only opponent the IBF would allowed Triple G to fight other than his mando next is BJ Saunders to unify the belts other than that Golovkin will be stripped of his IBF belt and deservedly so. There’s no reason for a champion to fight an inactive fighter from a lower weight class just to bump up his defense record to tie BHop. Shame on Triple G for doing to Chenko what Cotto and Canelo did to him when he was their mandatory.

he didnt have to be stripped since he was fighting canelo who was the ring middleweight champion.....

this should be known by now and they gave him permission....

but now since that fight is not happening he needs to fight his mando since he hasn't fought one in almost 2 years

Golovkin won’t be stripped surely he’ll just not be contesting the belt ?

This surely means he has to fight SD next though right ? BJS could jump in on the basis it’s a unification.

Ring is not a sanctioning body. But you're right. But as an aside, the Canelo and GGG fight was actually ordered by the WBC.

And again, the IBF would not have sent a letter saying they will strip GGG if he fights Vanes, and that they need to approve a voluntary defense IF they indeed were enforcing the Sergiy fight.

They wouldn't bother saying any of that. They'd simply say "fight Sergiy or be stripped". They obviously are allowing a voluntary defense, just not against Vanes. That's my entire point.

Now, after today's ruling, we will find out exactly if the IBF decides to enforce the Sergiy fight OR if they'll continue to allow a voluntary.

Yeah. He fought Canelo and was getting ready to fight him again. What a cherry picker.

Th title will become vacant if he fights Vanes. I think SD or a unification are about what Golovkin is able to do. Unless the IBF approves somebody else - which I doubt.

Hey, I'm basing this off the letter that was sent to them warning them if they fight Vanes, he will be stripped.

Take that up with them. They said it, not me.
