Is Anthony Joshua all that?

I don't think anyone could live up to the boxing messiah that British boxing fans make him out to be, in fairness, but Joshua is the goods and he's proven it in my opinion.Comment

yes, any professional fighter who is beating champs is good imo! Id never just outright bash a fighter at the top n call him a bum like some do here. Aj can improve but hes a good fighterComment

I've seen a lot of Wilder fans on here say his technique is very good and that he has a high level of Boxing skill and IQ. I think that's crazier than saying Joshua is a top level fighter. He's pretty good. But, British fans tend to get overly excited about, and protective of, local fighters. He's no Lennox Lewis and people should have reasonable expectations about the guy.
I think the difference with his fans and Wilder fans is that most Wilder fans admit the guy is a mess, technique-wise. They just think he's exciting and like watching him fight. AJ fans are pretending that he's beyond criticism and of course he's never going to live up to that. I think part of Wilder's popularity is that people are tired of the AJ hype.
I think Joshua is a good fighter, perhaps very good but he's still very much a work in progress and far from the finished article. He's won 3 titles and beaten the most ranked guys so he's the best of the bunch currently but it's a bad bunch. He has a long ways to go before he can be considered great or in an all-time Heavyweight discussion.
A Wilder win won't do it for me because I think he's already beaten better fighters than Wilder but if he's able to beat Wilder, Povetkin and a re-rejuvenated Fury then I think the people who've appeared to over hype him to date will be vindicated somewhat.Comment

judging by his parker performance he is a hypejob who needed a bent ref to help him out, bad signs all round, hes still a better boxer than wilder tho but wilder is more dangerous at times, whoever lands the first great shot wins most likely, will be greatComment

Totally agree he is, but I still praise him for attaining 3 belts whilst still not being all that. I think he is a prospect who took risk, was lucky or fortunate but still took the risk. He could easily had gone the 40 fights in 10 years route and call himself the man like some brit do. But his risk paid off for him.Comment
