That's a fundamental flaw in the WBC system at 75. They dont do that ANYWHERE else. Alvarez should be ashamed of himself. He keeps complaining of his title shot, but KEEEEEPS taking step aside money.

It aint just at 75, that's how the system works in all the weight classes. If you take step aside for any reason whatsoever then a title eliminator is ordered (to give the next ranked guy a 'chance' to become the mandatory).


It aint the WBC's fault that the next guy in line keeps losing the elimiators, if anything it just proves that they never stood a chance of beating Stevenson anyway if they can't even beat Alvarez.

Anyway, look at Charlo's situation.

He won a title eliminator to become GGG's mandatory, but then GGG drew with Canelo and because of the high demand (alleged high demand) for a rematch the wbc ordered a rematch between Canelo and GGG, and now Charlo has to fight another title eliminator to keep his mandatory sport (even though he didn't even get step aside money and was just overruled).

There is an obvious flaw in the system, but then again, there is no system that doesn't have flaws. The earth itself isn't perfect, neither are the species that live in it, humans included, therefore it is unreasonable to expect any man made system to be perfect. These flaws and loopholes will exist no matter how many times the system is revamped. Someone will always find a way to cheat or manipulate the system in their favor.

No, I'm aware it's a flaw. What I'm saying is, there isn't any other WBC champ that hasn't fought there mandatory in 4 years outside of Stevenson.

They kept waiting for the Kovalev unification to happen which never did. That definitely didn't help.

Jesus a fighter could spend his whole career just fighting manditories. Sucks if they don't bring in any real money. Looking more and more that the Saunders fight is going to happen next if Canelo is out for a year.

That's why smart fighters carry just one belt or drop them soon as he wins them. Too many belts can be a headache if you want to run your own career.

Charlo fight won't happen. If G gets Canelo in the fall and beat him, they are going to ride that money train as long as they can. They're not going to risk that train being derailed by fight Charlo.
