Of course anyone in Sergiy's seat would take the fight because it'd be a career high payday, even with the HBO budget, or lack there of - and also the limelight, the status, and everything that comes with a big fight of this magnitude.

IBF has to be mindful of the safety of it's participants.

Also, I've said this before, and I will say it again: The IBF had the opportunity, when it first was reported that Canelo was dirty, to get out in front of this. They could have easily said something along the lines of: [B] "...it's March 2nd, and with Canelo using a banned substance, there is a chance that this fight may get canceled. In the event that it does get canceled by (a specific date) then we feel that is sufficient enough time to promote and train for a GGG v Sergiy fight. We will order and enforce that fight if a cancellation happens on or before (a specific date). However, if that (specific date) arrives and there has been no news on NSAC's decision/cancellation, then GGG will be allowed to fight a voluntary defense"

That way there would be NO issue on what needs to happen next. That type of transparency allows for people to move on and plan accordingly - as oppose to idly waiting by.
I've never confided in a belt organization to be transparent and logical but the IBF are the least bad of a bad bunch. Normally they have a crap ranking system throwing up meaningless mandatories but this time they have a live wire - but even D'chenko will prefer a longer training camp.

Absolutely. IBF has been the most consistent of them all. And most fair. No argument there. It just doesn't do any of them any favors by rushing and forcing a fight they didn't properly prepare for nor promote.

However, the narrative is that it would be very "unfair" for GGG to fight Dervy on short notice. When you watch Dervy vs. Johnson, you can see how a fight with "The Technician" would be very different from the Canelo fight! Dervy won a phone booth battle with a MUCH bigger man, bigger (but slower) than Jacobs!
Dervy put on a clinic with Johnson! He's not a game! Low-Key, GGG vs. The Technician, at GGG's current age, is a 50/50 fight!

Also remember that GGG's camp wants that date, but the date is not mandatory! Only the opponent is mandatory!

Other fighters wanna get belts and eat too. Strip his greedy ass. He can fight Vanes all he wants but that IBF strap has to go. Put it up for grabs. Derevyanchenko vs Andrade fight for it. It's obvious GGG is more interested in money fights than "all the belts."
