That's three fighters on a waiting list, granted Martinez situation was bit on the extreme with the leg injury and then Cotto with his seasonal pic of dates and then Canelo with his two dates per year.

Damage that's why, he'd win the fight but it would in effect put him off from fightin again this summer if they can get BJS and granted an injury at his age in a fight would probably put him off from a rematch in September. I think you are really looking at this illogically in terms of timelines. There isn't another champion in any division that's going to take a fight against a guy like Derevyechenko on three weeks notice...not a single one. i'm sorry I know this guy is held to ridiculous standards of "do what I want you to do" and if you don't "I told ya'll so." Sergiy is not an easy fight for anyone at 160. He wants a tune up because he's screwed on short notice, I think it's pretty fair to let him have one if he's targeting canelo and bjs for the fall..either one are fights we actually want to see, one for vengeance and one for unification. It's not like he won't ever get the fight, they just feel they'd like a full camp for any opponent and that's a pretty fair thing to request as champion and at his age. He didn't create this situation he's just forced to deal with it. At this point, just give Sergiy a million get saunders as soon as you can and unify. Then fight all the mando's back to back..i can live with that because those are all credible opponents.

He wasn't the mandatory for Martinez. Loeffler said Martinez didn't duck him. He accepted step aside agreements for Cotto. Don't try to make him the victim here. And Canelo fought him. So Strum didn't give him an opportunity when the had the same promoter. Just like the Alvarez/Stevenson situation but I don't see nobody crying crocodile tears for Alvarez
