This is a big jump for Garcia and huge opportunity. He's already drawing big audiences and selling out to see him fight nobodies. He's already got 700K followers on instagram and attracts women to the arena. Now he's headlining the Stubhub on Cinco De Mayo weekend and he's only 19.

Velez is no slouch been in with top guys and never been knocked out. If Garcia wins and does it impressively his stock is going to jump big.

that's what I was thinking,,what do people want,not only is he 19,the guy has 14 fights,14...if I was his promoter I would wait until he has 20 fights and then start putting him in with top 15 fighters,then at 25 fights against top ten and guys who have faced champions or ex champs,you know experienced fighters and take it from there,,nowadays a fighter gets all this coverage and people want to see him against solid fighters at such a young age and very little fights,he only has 14 fights,no rush at all

Rojas is on hold because the Santa Cruz/Mares fight. He's the mandatory for the winner. That fight was supposed to happen late last year then got delayed. Doesn't want to take a fight and risk a injury or get upset and lose his mandatory status. Sucks but the same thing happened to Errol Spence after he got the mandatory status stayed on the shelf waiting for Brook rather then take a interim fight that could effect his title shot.

yeah but that's what Amir Imam said when after becoming mandatory and guaranteed a title shot rather then wait he took a stay busy fight against a guy nobody thought highly of at the time Granados who had already been beaten 4 times. Imam got knocked out hasn't looked the same since and had to wait 3 years later for his title shot. And there are other examples of guys who got hurt. So it's a fine line.

Just pointing out him being out so long is not an accident or because his promoters can't get him a fight. It's because he already has a winning lottery ticket he's been guaranteed the winner of Santa Cruz/Mares has to fight him or they will get stripped. And any fight Rojas takes now before risks his payday and title shot. It sucks for fans but this is the politics and why the fighters sit out long stretches when they get to a certain level becomes about money and risk.

Also I believe Golden Boy is trying to get HBO to put a fight in Puerto Rico in the coming months so that could also be in play.
