good point. another great fight on HBO, but once again HBO makes me crazy. when you got your house fighter, who you are investing your future with, that is being trained by one of your announcers can you please bring someone in who is not that announcer’s ex-fighter?

not that I felt anything lewis said was wrong but I mean come on can we have a voice for the other side please !!

I think he sucks as a commentator but I liked him more in this fight than Lampley since he was actually commening on what Winky was doing correctly here and there, which was more that Lampley.

yeah...at least george was animated. george, kellerman and anyone who is competent (which is not fran charles) would make an interesting team on BAD. give me bernard hopkins or roy jones over charles.

I was actually thinking whether or not Bernard could be a color commentator while they were showing the replay before the fight. He knows his ****, and he's not full if it. I think with a little voice coaching and whatnot he'd be a great commentator.

yeah...maybe some porcelain veneers and a speech therapist. he'd be pretty good. he sure as hell wouldn't say some cheerleader bull****. i can definitely see him calling it like it is.

Yeah You all can complain about Jim Lampley all night but guess what?

He the best commentator around or i should say boxing commentator.

I was about to log on and start this same exact thread.

I know Lampley isn't supposed to be the expert and call everything correctly. His job is to hype up the fight. Hell, I'll admit I love Lampley's hype. Some of my favs:
"What a great, great fight."
"Biggest punch of the fight!!!!" --> every fight
"And that's.......AMAZING!" -> Tarver knocking out Roy
"OHHHHH...OHHHH..WHAT A HUGE RIGHT HAND" --> B-hop on Trinidad

With all that said, I felt he's been terrible the last 3 Taylor fights. The hype machine is obviously behind Taylor but he makes it so blatant. Since Hopkins/Taylor 1 he has been screaming and overhyping Taylor "connects" and "combinations" that have been blocked and/or slipped.

It's so obvious it's sickening. Does he really think we're that ******? Taylor hit a ton of gloves and arms today but I have to sit through Lampley screaming "Now 4 punches land in a row for Taylor, 5, 6, now 7 straight punches!!!" All glove, all blocked, all overhyped all night long.

Come on. I know Taylor is a star but cut it out. This is one of the main reasons I dislike Taylor. The HBO hype machine is sickening.

He's good enough to do it without the hype.
