Personally, I don't think I ever heard of a "voluntary mando". I've heard of a voluntary defense which is basically a defense of your title against anyone of your choosing ranked in the top 15 of that organization. A mandatory defense is what Ocampo is. Nobody wants to see this fight, but a fight against Porter would certainly be acceptable. Unfortunately, the IBF ordered this fight against Ocampo and now Spence must fulfill his mandatory obligations.

For Porter if he is going after Spence he should do it now. Spence is good but still lacks so experience.

Porter has that in your face offense with a good chin alongside stamina. He hasn't seen a pressure fighter like that. Spence did great in the Brook fight but he lost some rounds. Brook/Porter was a split decision and Brook held him to death, he definitely won the fight but it was close.

The more anybody waits to fight Spence the worst is going to be for them.

If it was up to them both Danny and Porter would sit on ice awaiting Thurman to heal, fight some tune ups and then pick either one for a shot. That's like one year away. Spence unifying at 147 is a pipe dream he's gonna have to move up. Thurman should be stripped. Porter and Danny fight for the belt and the winner is forced to face Spence. Problem solved. One guy should not be allowed to clog up a division, injury or not.
