It was a non controversial Split one Point decision. All the greats give rematches when they get a really close one.

And what make you think Hurd will stopped Lara he couldn't do it the first fight and Lara got caught with a lot more powerful shoots than that weak punch in the knockdown and didn't even flinch.

History will tell that the boxer vs the bigger less talented come forward opponent will adjust and it will actually be either an easy win or a stoppage the other way around.

Hurd got no adjustments to make

Lara is damn near ten years older than Hurd. His legs will no longer allow him to move for twelve rounds. And he’s not gonna all of a sudden start punching harder.

Lara frustrates me. He has all the skills to win by total shut out but kind of beats himself in close fights.

I've been a casual fan/supporter of Lara since his 2011 domination and historic robbery vs. P. Williams. I love an underdog, and slick southpaw fighters are pretty much my faves to follow & root for. But
I would tell Erislandy "my man, you're just not a great fighter. But you're pretty darn good. I wish you hadn't wasted most of your athletic prime by taking far too few bouts each year against a number of progressively decreasing talent fighters - which always left you overmatched against your top level peers." he's only 34...no excuses whatsoever. Does anyone still believe Golovokin would have had the slightest difficulty against Lara? This is an older fighter in GGG, so enough with the Lara excuses. His biggest career wins came against Paul Williams and Trout. He dropped the ball against Canelo, was retreating and avoiding exchanges so obviously as that fight wore on, and don't forget he got badly, badly cut (for 1St time in his career) by a routine Canelo uppercut to begin a round. All that crappie he talked about Canelo and what should have been his career springboard ended up being the pinnacle -- and inevitable decline (by his.own fault) into mediocrity.

If we are judging talent levels, for simplification, by either A, B, & C grading scale - it's not reasonable to say Lara was anything more or less than "B". And he did it to himself by fighting nobodies for 3-4 straight years --> one bout per year AT THAT!

He always plays it safe and doesn't do enough in his big fights, then cries robbery when he doesn't get the nod. However, he made this fight more entertaining than most predicted because he didn't use the ring like he does in most fights.

Lara did do well early in the fight, but ultimately, he made the same mistake that Trout did. They were both in Hurd's face early to mid-fight, but spent themselves and had little left at the end. Jarrett is a relentless, big, strong, young guy. Instead of Trout and Lara wearing Hurd down, he kept coming and wore them down.

he went toe to toe for 12 rounds, his expression never changed, and you think he will fold on a second fight? If he start boxing and sharp shooting he will be more fresh. Punishment doesn't go well with stamina.
