I've been a casual fan/supporter of Lara since his 2011 domination and historic robbery vs. P. Williams. I love an underdog, and slick southpaw fighters are pretty much my faves to follow & root for. But
I would tell Erislandy "my man, you're just not a great fighter. But you're pretty darn good. I wish you hadn't wasted most of your athletic prime by taking far too few bouts each year against a number of progressively decreasing talent fighters - which always left you overmatched against your top level peers." he's only 34...no excuses whatsoever. Does anyone still believe Golovokin would have had the slightest difficulty against Lara? This is an older fighter in GGG, so enough with the Lara excuses. His biggest career wins came against Paul Williams and Trout. He dropped the ball against Canelo, was retreating and avoiding exchanges so obviously as that fight wore on, and don't forget he got badly, badly cut (for 1St time in his career) by a routine Canelo uppercut to begin a round. All that crappie he talked about Canelo and what should have been his career springboard ended up being the pinnacle -- and inevitable decline (by his.own fault) into mediocrity.

If we are judging talent levels, for simplification, by either A, B, & C grading scale - it's not reasonable to say Lara was anything more or less than "B". And he did it to himself by fighting nobodies for 3-4 straight years --> one bout per year AT THAT!

Hurd plans on taking a hometown fight next if he doesn't get Charlo. Besides he already said he doesn't want the rematch. So his best option is to hope Charlo beats Hurd then fight Charlo (assuming Charlo gets passed Trout).

I think Lara won the fight even with the knock down. But I see how that KD could sway peoples minds to giving it to Hurd I can see it either way.

          He deserves the rematch

It was close exciting fight and could have gone either way

I had him winning( but because of the KD can’t complain too much ) and had the same card as the Showtime judges

Side note : Dave Moretti shouldn’t be allowed to judge any Lara fights he’s shafted him twice now

I think Hurd would stop him next time. This was a hard fight for Lara. He had to will himself to last until the end of the fight. Hurd's confidence will be a lot higher next time. He'll probably be more active because he knows the judges had it it close. At his age, Lara will quit rather than go through all the punishment when he's reminded how hard the first fight was.

It was a close fight, and you could make a case for a narrow Lara win, but it's one of those where you could tell the "better man" won, and would win a rematch even more definitively.

The knock down clinched it... Lara did not win... go on to other and smaller things he's becoming a non issue now...

1 point swing and it is a bad match up?

I thought it was very close and agreed that the knockdown was the difference but Lara probably emptied what was left of his prime in that ring and may not see the final bell next time.
