Honestly sucks all round. From the article it seems pretty much like they're struggling to make an event that will even pay for itself. I'm not generally one to criticise any fighter for how **** turns out, cos I'm well aware that as fans we only have access to very incomplete information, but the move to abandon the date in order to ensure a better opponent appeared to be the smart choice from the moment Canelo dropped out. At the very least contingency plans should have been in place - certainly since Canelo's failed tests were announced.
I know it's unlikely to happen given the $s involved, but at this juncture I think it's time for Golovkin to stop wasting time chasing Canelo and focus on getting on with the twilight years of his career. Derevyanchenko, Saunders, Charlo, Murata - dude wil be 38 by the time that's done and in the unlikely event of his running that gauntlet unbeaten maybe he can think about the Canelo rematch then.
