From the article itself, regardless of an AJ win, the next fight is to be negotiated at a 50-50 level and the rematch clause states Wilder will have that in the US. That's a win/win for Wilder, in fact, it is absolutely everything Wilder wanted. He is the one that stated he would accept everything AJ throws at him, as long as he can get the same in return.

To top it all off, Wilder will be getting paid $10 million dollars more than his biggest ever pay day....ten million dollars. That is huge for a guy who has never been a draw, is unknown beyond hardcore boxing circles, isn't endorsed by multiple brands and has never been on PPV in his entire career.

Golovkin only received $3million more against Canelo and GGG is a much better known brand, by a considerable distance.

Plus, constant mention of how much the fight is meant to generate is idiotic. The £60-75 million quoted in this article is not all about the fighters. TV companies, promoters, managers and various other organisers will be taking from the pie.

In fact, for anyone who even has a passing interest in the sport, they know the fighter's purses and event revenue are two entirely separate en******. Whether or not AJ or Wilder get a slice of the revenue (as May/Pac did) is up for discussion but that hasn't been mentioned as of yet.
    1. 50/50 for the rematch is NOT a reverse of what is offered for the first fight.

    2. Unless you know of any details indicating that Matchroom is willing to co-promote, then the 12.5 million is an appearance fee that allows Matchroom to keep all revenues over that amount (gate, UK PPV, US PPV) .

    3. Flat fee purse rewards only Joshua if the fight exceeds monetary projections. That's bs.

    4. Past purses mean jack. You get paid your value from fight to fight.

    5. I don't have a problem with the low ball offer on the 1st volley of many. It's the take or leave it mess that bothers me.

    • I think anything over $20 million for Deontay Wilder is unrealistic. If his team come back with anything over that then you have to question their thinking. I know Wilder himself wants the fight. I'm not sure if it's greed or naivety on his management's part that is driving such high demands. I suppose they want the biggest return possible on their investment. A percentage split of 60/40 is asking for way over $20 million. I wonder how much of that split would actually end up in Wilder's bank account.

      • Here we go. If AJ really wants the fight why wouldn’t they offer him a split like they did Parker ? Wilder does hold a belt so he brings something to the table . 60/40 split and we know the fight happens in the UK is a fair deal not this flat fee BS.

Any speculative estimates from Wilder's side used to make an argument as to what he could expect to make via PPV would be given short shrift by Hearn in contract negotiations (and rightly so, from a business stand point)

This weakens his position substantially. From Hearn's point of view it's the perfect time to make the fight from a pure profit perspective.

Wilder stands to gain massively more from winning this fight than AJ would. AJ is already the money man in the division, if Wilder wins he can take that mantle. So I'd like to see him counter-offer with something that isn't miles away from this offer.
1 US PPV is worth about 4 times Skysports. You don't think Wilder vs AJ does more than 500k? It's called projections, which are often done when negotiating a PPV fight. If Hearn doesn't think Wilder vs AJ sells much in the US, it's simple, he can offer Wilder the entire US revenue like was willing to do when he offered Wilder Whyte. All you guys are talking about the money that AJ can make, and how Wilder should be happy. Where do you think all this new revenue is coming from? AMERICA. Hearn is banking on a giant US PPV and the only way they get it is by fighting Wilder. Like I said, one thing all these fanagers tend to miss, is that AJ's biggest payday only come if he fights Wilder.

£20 million equals almost $28.5 million. In your own words, AJ is little known in the US. Wilder is far more well-known. Yet we all know Wilder isn't really known at all. So based from what you're saying, what numbers are you expecting it to do on PPV? A couple of hundred thousand buys? Unless, of course, AJ's star has risen in the US, then I could see the fight making decent money on PPV.

            • They don’t want the fight mang! What are they scared off? We don’t care about the financial we just want to see the fight.

So why doesn't Hearn offer Wilder all US revenue like he was willing to do with the Whyte offer? Where do you think all the extra revenue for this fight is coming from. OH, lol I see, you think the extra revenue for AJ's biggest pay day is coming from Europe. If Wilder takes all US revenue, AJ makes the damn near the same amount money he made in his last fight.

Not sure you can usefully make that comparison as AJ hasn't fought in US primetime. It would be interesting to see what his figures would've been for the proposed Miller fight in NYC for instance. That would've given a better comparison to Wilder.

Sorry, like all these fanagers of AJ like to do, we will stick with what we see, no room for nuance. Wilder's ratings destroy AJ's on showtime.

So Joshua should get money off of the fans tuning in to see Wilder?

This biggest pay day bs is what stans and casuals focus on. It's silly because that's not how deals this big are negotiated. It will be both fighters biggest pay day regardless of the split.

Lastly...Two Wilder Joshua fights make a boatload of money. To get to the 2nd, there must be a first.
