Yes, a unification supersedes a mandatory - BUT only if the unification bout can get made in time. That's why Hearn/Joshua needs to be a bit more realistic when it comes to making this Wilder/Joshua fight. The rumored offer of a flat fee of $10m is NOT gonna get it done.

And the WBA will put a deadline on when they'd like to see the Povetkin/Joshua fight in the works, so Joshua can't just take months and months to figure out a respectable deal with Wilder.

Joshua is hoping that Povetkin will back off and allow the agreement with Wilder to get finalized.

This bozo is such a fraud and full of excuses, he knows he wants the Russian to take the fight, and I’m quite sure everyone is hearing the rumors of Eddie the Slicksler offering Wider 12%, what a bunch of sissies and duckers!!!!!!

The WBA is trash hot garbage for getting in the way of the biggest HW fight in years.
Boxing fans everywhere need to give them hell.
Povetkin needs to wait his turn. A PED cheat like him should never be given priority.

Keeping it real and not acting like a lot of these fan girls, I would be pissed if the shoe was on the other foot and Wilder didn’t want AJ to enter the ring, ducked AJ to fight bums, offer AJ 12%. I would be the first fan to hound Wilder. This is a disgrace!!!!!

It doesn't mean it's almost signed. It means they have been making offers. How realistic those offers have been, or atleast rumored to be, doesn't sound too promising.

Just read Joshua's speech in the last 5 paragraphs and that says it all - Joshua doesn't want to fight Wilder anytime soon. Simple!

He is hoping Povetkin makes some noise in the media in the next few days so he acts like he doesn't have a choice. Doesn't sound like a man actively making Povetkin step aside.
