Loma stayed in the amateurs till he was 25 beating on teenagers while Floyd turned pro at 18-19. If Loma was as good a he thought he was he should have turned pro sooner. Guarantee he would have the same career path as any other fighter. Im sure Roy and FLoyd could have done the same as Loma if they chose to turn pro at 25.

Rofl, Loma has lost only once in his Amateur Career, while Floys had countless L's in Amateurs.

Amateurs? Yet Floyd never lost when it counted in the pros while Loma lost to Salido. Floyd never had an amateur style. Comparing amateurs to the pros? Like I said, Loma was happy to stay in the amateurs and beat up on teenagers.

I like Linares a lot and have greatly enjoyed watching him fight but two things:

            1. Lomachenko already has a better resume and has beaten more challenging opponents (Russell, Walters, Rigo were ALL considered harder fights than any Linares fight)

            2. If he's so protected then why are you fighting a dude who you are twice as big as? Surely you're the protected one here then, no?

That said I do think this will be a fun fight. High speed chess. I think Linares can win some rounds and I'm interested to see how Loma works around his combinations which are fast, accurate and creative.

Staying an extra 5 years in the AMs winnning fecking medals *****s all over turning pro and fighting your first 15-20bums for the same amount of time.

Loma got two medals and a title in his 3rd pro fight!...

but he shoulda turned pro right? beating on bums rather than world class Olympic athletes....

              right.......

Lomas resume is far superiour to Linares and Linares has never beaten a B level fighter in his life
Hell he struggles and loses against C level fighters

Linares isnt even the best guy that Loma has fought

Linares is a title holder, not a champion.

Without offering any opinion on which is better (they're both elite IMO and that's enough for me) I think your post shows a fundamental lack of understanding about what the ams mean to those who compete in them - most especially in countries without a pro boxing tradition.

A Olympic Gold - or indeed any Olympic medal - is at least as exclusive an achievement as a world title, and the tournament formats of all major international amateur competitions mean that the very best fight the very best as a matter of course not exception.

Now I'm not saying that that automatically makes the ams better, merely different, but to dismiss them as some kind of second rate cousin of the pros is to do them a great disservice, regardless of how they are perceived in the US.

Literally the last thing you can call Lomachenko is protected.
