Translation- I’m lucky I got the decision and I’m not confident I’d win again

Props to Hurd for getting the decision l. I had Lara winning

But you can’t really complain since he got the KD in the 12th

Hurds pressure 1-12 is unreal though so if it Charlo sometime down the line for all the straps that matter I’m cool with it

      History tell us otherwise.

When a master boxer face a coming forward bigger guy and have a close fight, second time is a wash but with the boxer winning.

      Mayweather vs Castillo and Maidana

      Ward vs Kovalev

      Sergio Martínez vs Paul Williams

      And even Lara vs Vanes.

The big guy coming forward and can only do the same and try harder while the boxer now knows what it needs to be done.

There is a reason the don't want a rematch.

If Hurd/Charlo isn't next, who would be a better opponent than Lara? A weaker opponent shows true intentions.
It would have been a draw without the knockdown. Two judges would have had it even so a majority draw.

I think he's entitled to a "weaker" opponent if he wants one. Dude was a slight underdog against Harrison, almost even money with Trout and an underdog here with Lara and they were physically demanding fights especially the last two. Hurd will likely go straight to Charlo though as that seems to be the type of fighter he is.

I think Lara has earned a shot at whoever wins that fight but suspect he emptied a lot of what was left of his prime in this fight and would have a really hard time going the full route next time.

There are some instances where your example would be true. Its not in this one. Lara is a fading fighter who needs movement to beat a fighter like Hurd. He cant do it anymore or he would have done it. The fight was close the first half but Hurd took over in the second half and beat Lara up. I felt like Hurd had it the fight won going into the 12th and the knock down should have convinced anyone on the fence. If they fight again unless Lara is on his bike the entire time it will be over by the 8th.
