I love a rematch. Before the fight, the odds were against Lara because of Hurd's dominating come-forward style. Lara was hitting clean the first 2 rounds, even surprise Hurd going to the inside (Hurd fell down twice, his got no balance).
If Lara did what Hurd thought, it would of play into Hurd's game, maybe get the KO in earlier rounds. So Lara must of figure to hit clean from the outside, and come inside to reduce the reach of Hurd. Kind of similar to Andre Ward's strategy against Sergei Kovalev (rematch), however, Lara stay way TOOOO much in the INISDE. The last time Lara fought a taller and hard-hitter fighter was Paul Wiliams (6'1), that experience of figthing longer opponents probably made him box a different kind of style he wasn't use to.
I don't mind Charlo fighting Hurd, but Hurd might want to polish up his skills and footwork before going against all-around fighter.
“I was surprised,” Hurd told a group of reporters following the biggest victory of his five-year pro career. “He did stay there toe-to-toe more than we expected. We thought he was gonna run the whole, entire fight, you know, try to move on me. I don’t know if it was because my pressure wore him down or if he felt like he had to kind of stand there to prove something, let me know he’s right there with me. I’m not sure what it was, if he felt like he was behind. But he did stand toe-to-toe and it surprised me.”
