The judging was actually pretty fair for this fight. I hate to say it, but Lara let the fight go in the 12th round. I hope Lara and his team don't become too vocal about feeling robbed in this fight. I feel keying it will take away from his great performance.

Judges aren’t supposed to be on Lara’s side. They are supposed to be neutral and impartial. How anyone could call this a robbery of Lara is insane. It’s like if Ward had lost the first fight to Kovalev. I mean, that ain’t a robbery.... you mfers got dropped !
Now, I’m not saying that’s the only thing that matters. And I’m not saying I have a problem w the Ward decision or the Hurd decision. But unless you are dominating a fight, CLEARLY dominating a fight, then it’s not a robbery if you get dropped and lose. I could even see Hurd winning without the knockdown. “Robbery” is over used in this damn sport.
Marquez Got robbed vs Pac. Campillo was robbed vs Tavoris Cloud. These are robbery fights where the guy who got dropped clearly should have won despite. Certainly other examples out there but this ain’t one of them.Comment

Simple. Hurd took the fight to Lara and kept constant pressure on the Cuban. Even when Lara stayed in the pocket, which was totally out of character for Lara (kudos to Lara btw), Hurd got the better of Lata in most of the inside exchanges. And the body work Hurd did to Lara was a real game changer. I bet the poor guy’s pissing blood this morning. Im not a Lara hater, but he got beat by a bigger and stronger man who didnt gas out in the latter rounds. Lara was done by the 10 ro Nd and was in survival mode for the rest of the fight. If Hurd doesnt land a fight with little Charlo after this, I hope Lara gets a shot at Charlo and see how good the “lions only” fighter really is.
And for the record, the officiating in all three of the televised fights was absolutly atrocious. It ‘s time to bring in a new generation of refs that aren’t vested ( or paid off for better words) in the sportLast edited by ThomasJK; 04-08-2018, 04:54 PM.Comment

I can’t take people who talk like this seriously. Hurd won a close fight, and scored a KD when he needed it most. Robberies are one thing, but in a very close fight, well...that’s just the way the ball bounces.Comment

The sad thing, Hurd was the one that was about to get robbed. I'm still trying to wrap my head around why people think the fight was close. Unless they're giving Lara extra credit for not wilting all the way under the pressure he was under. Lara fought well but he didn't have an answer for the pressure and the volume punching coming from Hurd. He tried to land some hard shots to change Hurd's relentless attack but it didn't work. I give props to Lara for a great effort and fighting like a true champion but he lost the fight. The KD didn't change anything for me but I'm glad Hurd was able to get it and change the judges minds.Comment

Very close competitive fight all the way, that could've went either way. A rematch (in Miami) would be a great fight IMO.... maybe after the Charlo fight.Comment

I watched the fight again and scored it objectively. I had it even after 10 but Hurd pulled it out in the 12th. Great fight, certainly not a robbery!Comment
