At least the main event was so good it made it worth sitting through this muck.
If the head butt was ruled accidental in the 3rd which Robert Byrd ruled was not.

Robert Byrd ruled it was result of a punch! Therefore if the fight was stopped it's a win for Traux.

Had the ruling been accidental, which the replay showed it clearly was, DeGale would have been able to bow out with a no decision at the end of the 4th.

Because it was ruled as a result of a punch Degale was forced to solider on.

No it wasn't the best fight ever but you gotta admit DeGale showed a championship heart!

      I've paid my dues
      Time after time
      I've done my sentence
      But committed no crime
      And bad mistakes
      I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
      Kicked in my face
      But I've come through
And we mean to go on and on and on and on
We are the champions - my friends

The ref was literally the opposite of the AJ vs Parker ref.

It would seem so - he's been down a level or 2 since the Jack fight, amazing how one fight can do that

Uzi and Benavidez yes, this could be fight for GGG to take and possibly gain a belt at 168 but I feel it would be tough for Golovkin who has never fought against anyone so slippery as even the lesser version of DeGale.

Truax is being discredited a lot here - you watch - he will be avoided to an extent now at 168 because he's a handful for anyone who doesn't have a lot of power.

Eubank? He was exposed by Groves. Are you sure?

I thought EXACTLY the same + second time in two week's that a ref's incompetence ruined a title fight.

But here's the thing. The Italian ref was just incompetent and inexperienced. He could have been bought off but I doubt it.

Byrd - SMFDH!! This is the same ref who let Ward bust Kov in the nuts repeatedly. His wife gave another atrocious score last night. If you or me performed like this in a job repeatedly we'd have been given multiple warnings and/or fired by now. To me at least it's all tied in with the betting. Imagine if there was big bets placed on this fight going to the cards - turn it into a clinch fest.

I find it easier to believe that the Byrds ar corrupt than that they can genuinely be so incompetent and keep their jobs.

Degale is a mentally strong fighter. He has to many lapses of concentration during his fights. I wouldn't mind seeing him against one of the other top opponents.

It was a messy fight for sure.
I thought DeGale did well to manage with the early cut and I'm glad to see him win back his belt. But, he isn't the same fighter he once was. He's always been a vulnerable fighter, but he does seem to have lost a yard recently.

Maybe he could look at a domestic fight to bring in the money; Groves or Eubank even.
