Wilder just weighed in at 214 and is several inches taller.

Power is power and Shavers had it, possibly the hardest hitting boxer ever. I think his right hand would do in a lot of these pre-madonnas. He'd clear up the US imo but would have tougher nights and probably lose to Pulev, POvetkin and Wilder.

I think he'd have a horrid time with Takam as well, maybe a young, fit Chageav. Going ab it further back, both Klits would batter him into oblivion too.
Wrong idiot follower not top 10 in power you read that outdated lie from quotes

Lone Wolf and Cub avatar, great choice. I have all of them still, 1st print.

At 6 feet and 210lbs, he would be a good cruiserweight.

For HW? He would be severely undersized.

That was with same-day weigh in’s. Today, he would be a CW, weighing 210 in the ring and a cruiser at the scales.

That's nonsensical. Why would he look to cut weight?

Because he would be an undersized heavyweight. At 6', 215lbs, he would be the smallest current Heavyweight. You are also overrating Shavers. Look at his losses throughout his early career, prime, and past prime. He lost to a guy with a losing record in his prime. His long win streak is also littered with those. His record vs the Heavyweight elites of his time isn't good either. He never won a title. He hasn't even made it into the very poor, very low standard IBHOF.

It's not rocket science. Many cruiserweights today would be heavyweights in Shavers' era. Cruiserweight was created to accommodate the growing HW division. You had fighters so big and so good for their size, that it became apparent to the sanctioning bodies that a new weight class was required.

The 5'10" Rocky Marciano, who weighed from the low 180s to the high 180s, would need to be a Light-Heavyweight today.
