Thing you guys don't realize is HW was +175 back in those days, now it's +200.
All the OSchool guys from 175 to 200 would have been CW today, and many from 200 to 220 could drain themselves to CW.
FOR A REASON, over the last 2 decades, all the truly dominant HWs (Lewis, Vitali, Wlad, Wilder, Joshua) ie who had a solid streak of REAL defenses and could claim the lineal throne were 6'6 at least.
All the small dudes Roy Jones, Byrd, Chagaev, Pov, Haye who held a HW title were complete paper champs.
Earnie was 6'0 and whould have no business IMO in the modern HW era.
SEVERAL INCHES?? Wilder is 7 inches taller doe. Tuscaloosa dude is light but he's a giant.
Earnie got koed by a 202 lbs Jerry Quarry, a 210 lbs Ron Lyle and his chin wouldn't hold well vs modern giant heavies.
Earnie would have been a beast at CW.

lol what? In his most iconic fights he weighed 210, 211 and 211.5, that's a cruiserweight to you?
Wilder just weighed in at 214 and is several inches taller.
Power is power and Shavers had it, possibly the hardest hitting boxer ever. I think his right hand would do in a lot of these pre-madonnas. He'd clear up the US imo but would have tougher nights and probably lose to Pulev, POvetkin and Wilder.
I think he'd have a horrid time with Takam as well, maybe a young, fit Chageav. Going ab it further back, both Klits would batter him into oblivion too.
Joshua wouldn’t fight a prime Earnie Shavers! To make that match Shavers have to be in his mid to late 40’s preferably with a couple of straight losses and a long lay off. After all its the name he’s after
I think you're thinking of the other title holder at heavyweight. AJ doesn't mind fighting young undefeated guys. The other fella, you have to be old, have high blood pressure and be past prime to be he's hardest challenge.

Wilder is 6 7 with a wingspan man. Bellew and Haye, although taller than Shavers are abit too small to handle the super tall guys. Shavers would have such a reach disadvantage, and doesn't have the type of chin to walk right in.
