Hurd at weigh in

People comparing Hurd to Paul Williams. Yeah Williams is a better boxer but he also had a thinner frame. Hurd is solid and throws thudding punches. By the time Williams met Lara he was on the verge of being shot and his glaring flaws were already exposed by Martinez. Even then I thought Williams caught Lara with a lot of clean shots. I think Hurd will be more of a problem than Williams because of his tenacity. I also think Hurd can box (although he's somewhat limited) but for some reason he's developed this no defense style.

I think the low or no defense style is his way of baiting the other fighter. Unfortunately for Hurd, he can only do that for so long. A non defensive fighter has no longevity in this sport. Ive noticed that Hurd is measuring their power, if they tend to be more heavy handed then he picks it up earlier

I agree he's baiting them in but we saw how badly Trout was able to bust him up last fight. The danger in doing that against Lara is that he might bust him up so bad they'll stop the fight. I'm rooting for Hurd and I hope he pulls the upset.

Is it me, or does Hurd look more like a super middle? Seems like his physic was more in line with DeGale and Truax... compared to Lara, J Rock and Truax.

I don't even really like hurd as he plods but that size is ridiculous

Lara been in the game a while now
Plus the angulo fight keeps coming to mind

But if they were the same size I would pick Lara all day long

If you couldn't tell from my AV, I got Lara to outbox Hurd. I think Hurd doesn't move his head and follows guys around in straight lines. As long as Lara hasn't gotten old I think he takes this by UD or late stoppage.
