Probably because he just fought. I don't actually give him much of a chance right now, he's pretty green in the pros. But at the same time he'd be a way better choice than Spike if that's who they are going with.
He isn't a southpaw like Andrade, so you can't make that excuse
Why are they overlooking him?
He should. In my book Derevyanchenko should be #1 priority with Saunders and Charlo unavailable right now. Andrade would be a good opponent too, possibly trickier, but the mandatory should take precedence. Also it shouldn't be too difficult to negotiate unless Sergei wanted higher than his mandated split of the purse... we'll see though, it ain't long to negotiate a fight and they may be wary about getting into negotiations which may drag out and risk losing the date altogether (a la Jacobs).

I wish this was the fight that would get made for the 5th.
Saunders, Charlo, Jacobs all unrealistic unfortunately.
Sullivan is mismatch.
Andrade is interesting but what are the chances of getting a deal done with HIM on such short notice?
Derevyanchenko is a mandatory and will probably give us the best action fight of all the possibilities. His team said they would be interested in being the replacement.
Might as well get the mandatory out of the way...cmon Loeffler, make this fight happen
This makes the most sense so ofcourse it won’t happen... tbh although Andrade or derevyenchenko don’t deserve ppv, personally I would pay, but you probably couldnt pay me to watch spike I would want a cpl hundred for my time
This is how it always goes. Someone who rises up the ranks gets their shot by beating nobodies then gets crushed by the champ and called a bum. Julian Williams and Lubin ring a bell here folks?
