  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter: Don't Cancel Plans, GGG Will Fight on May 5

As BoxingScene.com reported last week, Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) is planning to defend his IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight titles on May 5th - with or without Canelo Alvarez in the other corner. Canelo (49-1-2, 34 KOs) is under a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for failing two doping tests in February. To make matters worse, the NSAC filed a formal complaint against him last Friday, and ordered the Mexican superstar to appear at a hearing in Las Vegas on April 18th.

Dont cancel plans? Lol some nerve this guy has. Who the *** is gonna pay the same to get downgraded from first class to economy. If he faces that bumass spike whatever, i wouldnt even go for free.

Only way they can save this event is by facing at least Andrade or that other fkin hard to pronounce euro guy.

Andrade or Ramirez at 168 would be respectable opponents

Really should be fighting a Mexican. too bad Chavez ****ed up his marketability with a ZERO effort in his last out. There isn't a Mexican MW ranked in the top 20 currently, other than Clenelo.

            Looks pretty bleak.

I feel bad that Golovkin put all the work and money into a whole camp only to end up with this but no one is interested in whatever half-assed replacement they have lined up. Dude spent too many years on Monroe, Wade, and other cans. He's stepped it up, you can go back from that and expect it to fly...
