The problem I have with the fight is it seemed Joshua was content on playing it safe and going 12 rounds. This is the same guy that decided to push Klitschko even when was danger of getting stopped himself. He was way more determined against Klitschko than he was against Parker. Even with Takam he took more chances. Takam was just a lot more slippery than expected and made the fight more difficult but atleast he was still trying to stop the fight.

I was disappointed in Parker, not AJ. Parker boxed extremely well, for a guy who was there to survive, not to win, and I expected him to follow that policy for the first half of the fight, then start getting in close and throwing more punches in the second half. But he kept it up right to the end, even though he knew he was behind on points. So I have to conclude that he was just there to survive, and nothing more.

I don't know why would anybody expect AJ to take more risks, when he was clearly winning without needing to!

The ref was terrible. The first couple of times he jumped in, without any justification, imo, he did it when Parker was throwing punches and I started to get angry, because I thought Hearn must have paid him off. Then he started jumping in when AJ was on the attack, and I realised he was just useless, not bent.

AJ calling a time-out himself to get his tape re-wrapped summed up how bad the ref was. That tape flapping about was clearly distracting both fighters, and it could have caused a real problem if it had flicked into Parker's eyes, but the ref did nothing about it.

I had some of my buddies who I consider Casual fans watch Wilder vs Ortiz . Then told them they Gotta watch AJ vs Parker . By the 9th round I was getting angry text talking about " this shet sucks " and " when are they gonna start fighting " ?
Luckily I had fallen asleep by then .

A lot of those rounds were close in the beginning. Joshua wasn't behind but he never took clear control of the fight. Even the rounds he was winning in the second half wasn't convincing.

The ref ****** the life out of an already boring fight. Parker wasn't even trying to win. He did nothing to put Joshua in any danger.

That was the Anthony Joshua/Eddie Hearn show. At the of the day they get the credit or the blame for the entirety of event.

I would think a potential Wilder fight would be more entertaining but I can also see another stinker where Joshua fights a safe fight, the ref make sure there's no possible action to put him in danger, and Joshua getting the nod because they're in the U.K. That would be a big let down if that happens.

I don't see Joshua playing it safe against Wilder and thus making it a boring fight. He would have little advantage staying behind the jab at range because Wilder is MUCH longer and taller than Parker and even though his jab is not quite as good as Joshua's, he would be in range to land at Joshua's comfortable jabbing range, making it much more difficult outside than Parker did with his short arms and out of range jabs. Joshua may get away with playing it safe for a few rounds but eventually Wilder would bring the heat and let go some of those windmill tomahawk shots that would force the action.
Joshua would want to use his jab and fundamentals to set up Wilder as well as look out for his bombs but if he stayed in one spot on the outside too long, not throwing anything with bad intentions, Wilder would eventually get to him.
This is coming from an AJ fan by the way, I just see Joshua/Wilder as a total toss up where anything can happen.

But there's NO WAY Oilskin wasnt fighting to win. He took the best AJ had and gave as much back.

The ref was reffing for a decision which was always gonna be in Team AJ's favour of it went the distance...

Same thing, friends I was with watched Wilder Ortiz and loved it, AJ Parker not so much... only reason they cared after round 5 was a possible match between Wilder and the winner.

You're right, basically... However, you put the right referee in there to jump in and ensure Wilder doesn't get any punches off and you get the same scenario as Saturday night.
