  • According to “Clenbuterol Residues in Bovine Feed and Meat” [1] Clenbuterol levels in contaminated beef (in Mexico) have values in the range 0.1 to 2.3 micrograms (max. recorded) of clenbuterol per kilogram of meat. So a 100g piece of steak could contain between 0.01 and 0.23 micrograms (i.e. 10-230 nanograms) of Clenbuterol. One of Canelo's samples (i.e. specimen 4121793) contained 600-800nanograms.

The half-life of clenbuterol in plasma, when administered to humans as a drug, was estimated to be about 35 h [2]. The cumulative urinary excretion of unchanged compound corresponded to about 20% of the administered dose as measured at 72h following a single oral administration [2]. What this means that if you use Clenbuterol in a drug form, within 72hrs you can detect only 20% of the original dose in your urine.

This is a clear indication that Canelo was using Clenbuterol illegally and got caught during the time when the drug did not fully disintegrated. I like both fighters but everything here indicates Canelo and his team used illegal means to enhance his performance.*

Naah... GGG will just move on... He has no control of the situation and it's not his fault...

It sucks for Caneloterol big time.

The thing is, Clen is more than just a cutting agent. It helps with certain kind of explosive training, it feels a bit like having some adrenaline in your system. I should know, I´ve used Clen multiple times in the past (not for punching people of course). Funny thing about it is that upping the dose won´t help you, it will just make you twitchy and nervous and can cause cramps. And to me the Canelo levels have nothing to do with beef and everything to do with intentional PEDs, unless he ate the whole liver from a doped up cow.

Clen’s half life is 36 hours, so the second failed test (3 days later) should read a fourth of the amount. Canelo’s 2nd test reads an amount TEN TIMES lower than the first reading.

I’m no expert at this, but it seems like he was trying to flush it out and got caught. There’s no other way to explain him being able to take Clen out of his body 2.5 times faster than any other human being.
The half-life varies depending on metabolism, but its generally viewed to be around 28-36 hours, so not always as high as 36.

When the tests were taken would also play a part, eg one early on Feb 17 and one later in the day Feb 20.

I didn't get the impression there was any attempt to flush out of his system. Only reason he would do that would be to try portray the first test as an error, but I didn't see the second test as being inconsistent with the first given all the variables, so I guess if he tried that it didn't work out.

                    • The maintain muscle thing is what Im thinking about. If he's cycling pep pills to drop weight, those metabolism accelerators eat as much muscle as they do pure fat. I cant believe a several month regimen of that up to a big water cut the day before the fight would put Canelo at a competitive advantage. The timing's also interesting. Right before camp. Im not saying a decision should be reversed on these grounds but they do cut recreational drugs with that stuff.
