If there is no other evidence but these two tests which show trace amounts, I want the fight too. Screw it. Punish Alvarez in the pocketbook and let the fight go on. But every indication is that in this new age of PED enforcement, The Nevada commission will face some serious backlash of they give what is perceived as special treatment to a popular fighter and will stick to their tougher policy and suspend Alvarez for 6 months retroactive, effectively killing this fight.

Nearly two weeks remain until the Nevada State Athletic Commission will determine whether the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin rematch can take place as planned. That hasn't stopped MGM Resorts International from offering full refunds to consumers who've purchased tickets to the jeopardized event. According to a story posted to the Las Vegas Review-Journal's website Wednesday, an MGM Resorts International spokesperson confirmed that the company, which co-owns T-Mobile Arena, is providing full refunds to those that have bout tickets to the high-profile fight, scheduled for May 5 at T-Mobile Arena.

But if Alvarez was cheating these trace amounts would be right in line with him cycling off, and the beef would be a nice back-up story. Unless Alvarez has a beef supplier ready to vouch for the fact he sold Canelo the tainted triple decker burger to prove otherwise, the Nevada Commission will assume guilt because he failed. 6 months no soup for you Mr. Alvarez. Golovkin you are free to go fight someone for 1/3 the money. Boxing public- nothing to see here. Move along.
I am so ready for April to get here and have them just decide. I am ready to talk boxing again.Comment

Oh I totally agree. I have been slammed on this site for actually being willing to buy the excuse from Alvarez. There is a proven history here, including non-boxing related. Beef growers in Mexico use PEDs to get leaner beef and bigger profits. Those PEDs get transferred. It is like Swine flu was actually transferred to humans through pork meat which was infected by droppings of sick birds into pig feed. It happens.

It really has distracted from the actuall fight and is getting older each day reading about it.
I just wish it wouldnt take so long and just hand down the sanction-whatever it is.Comment

If he goes hot again his boxing days will be over.Comment

Yes if it goes ahead on the may 5th. If they fight on a further date down the track well of course the belts will be up for grabs.Comment

Canelo’s punishment must be more than just a postponement on the fight and/or a huge fine.
Why not just a postponement on the fight? Because he’s a young fighter, a little time off won’t hurt him at all. (6 months in modern boxing is a small amount of time, especially on these guys that fight twice a year)
Why not just a fine? Because that is essentially just letting him pay his way for using PEDs. Basically saying ‘hey man if you can afford to take a dock in your percentage then go ahead and take x,y,z...’
He needs to be banned for a couple of years, fight cancelled, huge fine, under intense review upon return...all of it and more.
Reality is, he will be excused of wrongdoing because of all the corruption behind him that drives and steers him. This ‘investigation’ will most probably result in nothing so he can go ahead and fight and us fans can sit and continue to be told he’s the face of boxing.
There is a manufactured ‘superstar’ here, ladies and gentlemen, and the powers that be? They want a slice of what he can bring in. The establishments want Canelo to be innocent here, we’ve seen evidence of this plenty already.
I don’t expect to see any justice here.Comment
