Should they add a new rule to say boxers need to weigh in on fight night? What are people's reasons for not wanting to step on the scale on fight night? What are they trying to hide?
Should same day weigh in's be mandatory?

I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Would it be for the mere purpose for stats or do you make it so if you weigh too much a fight gets called off? Some cats got that now obviously, but if that become universal I think it does more bad then good for boxing with some fights surely getting canceled the day of which would be a bad look for the sport + upset fans.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 03-28-2018, 02:46 PM. -
Yea I'd say more for stats.I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I wouldn't want the fight to be cancelled (if a guy is able to drain and then rehydrate so much power to him), I'd just like to see what their actual weights are on fight night.
I mean what is the reason they don't do it though? It ain't like if they came in too heavy the fight would be called off, so why decline it?Comment

I suspect guys who win and have a large weight advantage over their opponents would rather that was kept secret. It might deflect from their victory.Comment

its perfect the way it is now.
you make the weight, you make the weight who cares how much they blow up, theirs advantages and disadvantages to everything.Comment

Yea I don't get that myself to be fair although I'm not in the boxers position. HBO was on top of that more than most back in the day & it always struck me as highly odd that some guy would deny them a fight night weight in those minority of times someone would. Seems like they could just require that being done as part of the purse so if you don't weigh in then you lose x $ or something.
But trying to consider this from a boxer POV I guess some might not want the potential fan, pundit & announcer debate if they gained too much weight.
I'd bet some of it is just a fighter trying to get "in character" for the fight & not wanting to deal with some HBO or whatever intern carrying a scale around while he's in "fight" mood.
Probably other things, but those are the first two that come to mind.Comment

The TV people should be demanding it anyway.Yea I'd say more for stats.

I agree but why can't we as fans know? I like how they tell us reach, arm length, height, weight. It just gives us some extra information on the fight.Comment
