Yarde doesn't want to fight Hosea Burton so I'm not surprised.
Yarde's hype whilst fine is exceeding the level of competition he has faced. They want to take it slow which is fine because he has little amateur experience but his hype is such that people want him to fight good fighters.
His career is slightly frustrating in a sense that I don't think he's faced any adversity so far. So I'm fairly certain Beterbiev would knock him out.
I'll not watch Yarde against until he at least fights the Burton, Buglioni, Johnson trio.
It seems to me like Warren and his management are trying to by-pass them all together and go to world class. It's hard to see how that doesn't end in Yarde taking a shellacking from someone hardened and experienced. The domestic trio are all good fighters who will put Yarde in tough spots.
They wanted Buglioni previously presumably because they felt he was the weakest.
I dunno all the soundbites around him have been 'timing is everything'. It all seems a bit path of least resistance. Even that is fine because he is still a novice but like Tom says they can't in the same breathe be talking about world rankings.
He's in a tough spot. He's over-ranked if that is even a word.Comment

Yarde would really need to at least test himself at a decent level before taking a fight like that.
It would be way too soon. I don't think he's that good anyway, but i may be proven wrong. He's still learning and being moved at the right pace. He is still a raw novice really with no real amateur background.Comment

Agreed. He's one of them that might step up and just do what he's been doing. But there is no way we could speculate. And the fact he's moved pretty carefully means his team aren't sure either.Yarde would really need to at least test himself at a decent level before taking a fight like that.

I dunno what they do really, can he continue to get away with level of competition he's fighting for another 18 months?
I'd pick Johnson and Burton against him right now. I swear they have accidently made this guy a star too soon.Comment

This exactly, the guy has only what less than 30 fights amateur and pro combined so he needs more experience.I don't think so and I'm a Yank, but I think Yarde has THE MOST potential of the UK prospects, even over Dubois, who I think is the overrated one.
He shouldn't take that fight, he isn't ready for it & Beterbiev is a well trained, with better experience. Yarde has holes in his game and has a lot to learn, but athletically he has much more potential than Dubois & Joyce, but best I see is that he's learning & thinking in the ring. If he puts the two together you'll have something there.
Smart choice not taking the fight IMHO.
I also think Yarde has the most star potential out of all of the UK prospects, by farComment
