  • Comments Thread For: Sadam Ali Disappointed First Defense Isn't at MSG or Barclays

The most magnificent night of Sadam Ali's boxing life took place right where any New York kid would've dreamed it would happen. The Brooklyn native upset Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden, the famed arena where Ali always wanted to fight from the time he took up boxing at 8 years old. The Garden has been Cotto's home away from home throughout the Puerto Rican icon's career, which made Ali feel like the visitor, despite that they fought in his hometown December 2.

The reason he fought in MSG was because of cotto, not him.

LOL... when he can sell enough to warrant an Arena like that then maybe he can have a fight there.

He fought there because of cotto and nothing else.

Why isn't this fight at MSG on PPV? I was told beating Cotto is how you become a PPV star.

At least you're fighting in New York though Sadam, Lol.

Continue to make a name for yourself and you'll be fighting in Barclays Center in Brooklyn soon enough.

Hey, I'm wondering the same thing. But I was told Garcia & Spence had to fight and beat Cotto to become a PPV star. The road to becoming a PPV star goes thru Cotto

beating cotto would've done more for garcia or Spence than it did for Ali because garcia and Spence have decent fan bases and are considered top fighters. Ali wasn't really cared about much so he wasn't going to go from a nobody to somebody off of that win. Spence and garcia on the other hand would've definitely enhanced their positioning as stars because they're already established.

So a Cotto win for Ali can't even get him the small hall at MSG? And he's from NY
