Comments Thread For: DiBella: Wilder-Joshua More Likely For 2019 Than Being Next

Promoter Lou DiBella, who works with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs), is very doubtful that a unification with IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will happen next. DiBella believes it's more realistic to see that fight happen in 2019.

Looks like everyone starting to say the same thing now.

In 2018 the obvious fights will be wilder vs whyte in uk and wilder vs breazeale in US.

Assuming Joshua can beat Parker, he’s likely going to face potvetkin uk and Miller US.

It does setup 2019 nicely to be honest

I can see those fights happening aswell. To be honest I can wait 1 or 2 fights maximum more before they fight. For business purposes this fight was always going to marinate for a while before it happens.

Why is DiBella even speaking on it?
He has no say-so on anything regarding Wilder...
DiBella is Al Haymon's biitch and he does what he's told, that's all!

I say Joshua-Wilder happens either late 2018 or early 2019.

Any wait longer than early 2019 would be disgusting.

The fight happens when Wilder stops pricing himself out.

Sad, sad, sad. This is the only sport where fans would rather see meaningless events rather than an event that matters. The time is now for the fight, the two best guys available should fight now. Yet the fans make it excusable to do otherwise. There is absolutely no one who believes anyone other than AJ or Wilder can detrone each other, yet we are willing to wait a year and watch both of them fight scrubs in between.
