Wlad's defense was more than tying opponents up when they got close - look at the haye fight, Wlad used his fast feet to maintain perfect distance.

He was great at using foot speed to slide back and avoid shots.

their offenses are not similar. the only correct thing you said, was that Wlad had a basic offense, which consisted of 1's, 1-2's, and lead left hooks. But he was the master at setting up each punch: set up the straight right with the jab, and then set up the left hook with the straight right.

Gvozdyk is a much more dynamic offensive fighter, circling using angles, etc.

Hahah good, I'm glad somebody else recognized it as a ridiculous comparison. Klitschko was defense-first, and very cautious. Gvozdyk is a dynamic offensive fighter who throws lots of combinations.

Are you a fan of Gvozdyk as well? I think him and Bivol are definitely the future of LHW.. That's gonna be a hell of a matchup.

I am, one of the few here IMO because I am the only one posting about him throughout the whole 2017. He's the last man of the Ukranian Olympic team also that still is not a world champion.

Right now my upcoming prediction is Kovalev-Bivol: Bivol by TKO in the 12th, and Gvozdyk vs Badou Jack: Gvozdyk by TKO 10th, and then a unification between Gvozdyk vs Bivol: Undecided.

Gvozdyk reminds of a much faster and initiative Jua M. Marquez with Lomachenko's footwork.

Gvozdyk seems to be uninterested or has no motivation against these type of opponents. And when it is a top tier opponent (Gonzalez, Chilemba) he looked like the future with his massive power. But against crap tier opponents he seems uninterested.

People here just do not get it, "the Nail" had a task to go all 12 rounds without hitting hard this guy. It's actually a pretty smart move to 'feel' the 12 rounds fight before going to a title shot. To breath all 12 round at a very high tempo. And if you look at Compubox stats you will see that he had thrown nearly 1000 punches. These are very high numbers.

So, the mission is completed. Cong**** to 'The Nail' and his team!

I think he deserves a title shot and I also would like to see him fighting Beterbiev!

Agreed. Although I'm still undecided on Kovalev/Bivol.

Now that is a very good comparison! The way he puts his punches together - that smooth combination punching is very similar to Marquez. And yes, he has the Lomachenko footwork - circling, and pivoting, etc.

Haye is a midget, I'm pretty sure Gvozdyk is taller than him.

Wlad's HW era was not as good as this LHW era, of course he's going to look much better fighting lesser competition and be able to do things Gvozdyk can't having such a size advantage.

I didn't say they were exactly the same, but they're very similar. If you shrunk Wlad he'd look a lot like him.

I don't think Gvozdyk is as good as Kovalev, he does not pass the eye test for me. Very stiff, tends to pull straight back, it'll most likely get him KO'd vs the top guys.

Gonzalez wasn't even the same after the Pascal fight, the Shabs fight did him in even worse. Nowhere near a top contender.

Chilemba quit on his stool due to a shoulder injury he suffered early in the fight, during the fight he was taking Gvozdyk's shots well and clipping him. Gvozdyk possesses very little head movement.
