The duntz here is YOU! When a Ward fight was a real possibility (not when Ward was injured, not when Ward was having court battles, not after Ward moved to light heavy), team GGG made it clear the fight could only happen at 164. They knew Ward would be hard pressed to make 168 and 164 would be out of the question. They could act like they wanted a Ward fight but wouldn't actually have to fight Ward. This after approving 168 for both Froch and Chavez Jr. Clear duck by team GGG.
Immediately after this, Ward moved up in weight to fight the perceived killer and #1 light heavy (Kovalev) and GGG drug the #3 or #4 welter weight up not one but two weight classes. So who was looking for tough competition and who wasn't?
What they said- we'll fight anyone from 154-168.
What they meant- we'll fight anyone from 154-168 as long as we dictate all terms, as long as we get the lions share of the money, as long as HBO approves and as long as your name isn't Andre Ward.Comment

No we'll say Jacobs and Brook puts you in the HOF WTF???although he remains one of the most hated fighters in the sport, what he has done is an example to all fighters out there on how to conduct yourself as a professional.
With an undefeated record and a commitment to fighting the best opponents out there, he has never ducked anyone. And he has done it with a crowd pleasing style.
Its this relentless pursuit of entertaining the fans that has resulted in him becoming one of the most popular fighters in the sport, with very good viewing figures against brook and canelo.
At all times he has shown dignity and class. Theres been no failed drugs tests, no hand wrapping controversies and hes never been the beneficiary of shady scorecards or premature stoppages. No assault charges outside the ring, whether thats against a male or a female. Hes never swerved a fighter who has fought in his weight class and he does his talking inside the ring.
So despite the hatred this humble man evokes, when we look back at his hall of fame career in a few years, we can say, yeah golovkin did it right....Comment
