He basically wanted to double-dip, get his paydays and then enforce his mandatory.
Hahah then he refused to fight Gvozdy when WBC said "nah lil homie, you forfeited your mandatory position when you took that step aside for so long."
He is either lying, or he needs to sue his promoter (same promoter for Stevenson) for not getting his step aside fee.
If Arum and Gvozdyk properly enforce their mandatory position, the only way Stevenson should be able to get out of it, is if he has a bad injury, which could delay it, OR, if he can prove he is negotiating for a unification.
There's probably some other clauses in the WBC rulebook but for the most part if you aggressively pursue your mandatory there's not much you can do to dodge it.
Or at least there shouldn't be.Comment

Gvozdyk is lying like Kovalev
According to Gvozdyk version, if the WBC sanctions a fight 90 days from May 19. In the event of a Stevenson victory, Stevenson could well propose Gvozdyk a step aside agreement, which gvozdyk could always refuse to make that fight to occur.
But all this Gvozdyk talk is a big lie. Here are the real facts Gvozdyk knows but doesn't say...
Boxingscene: Thu Jan 25, 2018
The WBC maintains that the winners of both fights will have to face each other, but it's not clear if they have to face each other next. When the winners of those fights collide, the bout will have a split percentage of WBC champion 65%, WBC interim champion 35%. And, the WBC has also ruled that Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) will retain his position as the mandatory challenger. And Alvarez will get an immediate crack at the winner of the WBC champion vs. WBC interim-champion showdown. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Alvarez will appear in the co-feature to Stevenson vs. Jack. His opponent has yet to be determined.
Gvozdyk's starting to play the cheap game of blaming Stevenson, like Kovalev does. I mean, he's trying to push the WBC to serve him Jack, but not Stevenson.
You guys don't see the pattern?..Last edited by TheThirdEye; 03-16-2018, 11:56 PM.Comment

Very disappointed in Eleider Alvarez! If he didn't want Stevenson, at least he should've fought Gvozdyk! He could make it up though...Marcus Browne! Gvozdyk vs. Beterbiev on Top Rank Boxing on ESPN! Make It Happen! Let's Go!Comment
