I think if they had enforced matches between the best fighters they would start to get more attention, especially from people who are annoyed with "ducking" in men's boxing.

Honestly nothing. On a boxing forum where guys spend 5 years of their life arguing about what floyd said to a guy in a urinal we see maybe 1 thread about women's boxing per year. The market isn't there.

I can see the "gender is a lie! male privilege!" fanatics being interested in it for a day then finding out you have to exercise and get your nose broken then that'll be over too.

if you truly cared for women's boxing.. how about watch it.

that's a start right there. ratings dictate everything in this world.

the Ring puts Rousey on the cover "she conquered MMA, is Boxing next?" what a low blow to its own sport.

that's like UFC mag placing Tank Davis on their cover "he conquered Boxing, is MMA next?" I guarantee you MMA fans would unsubscribe en masse and march with pitchforks. even if its Floyd on the cover.

see they won't stoop that low. but Boxing will.

              Stars are born, not made.

The same is true for boxing: they can televise fights and push for greater visibility for women's boxing until they're blue in the face, but until a woman comes along that puts asses in seats, makes people demand to see her on TV, and generates genuine hype and interest at a grassroots, word-of-mouth level..... women's boxing will continue to be a sideshow.

Personally, I think we should be doing the opposite: encourage women to go into MMA. There's a chance at a real career there, and the talent pool would deepen. Women's boxing is a joke and I say that without the slightest bit of malice; there just aren't enough women interested in boxing to make the divisions deep enough to regularly make quality matchups. You see women who have absolutely no business in any ring fighting the bigger names, even contesting for titles in womens boxing on a regular basis. That results in a sport that has zero credibility.
My fellow Oklahoma homie spitting knowledge, that’s spot on.

Real stars are born, but with the power of today’s media you can definitely manufacture a few also, but yeah the “it” factor is something that can’t be taught or bought.

And yeah I watch women’s MMA but you couldn’t pay me to watch female boxing

I have nothing against women's boxing but I much prefer men's boxing. The men are better fighters and I like to watch the best in action. I don't go out of my way to watch women's boxing or even men's amateur boxing. If I am watching a pro boxing card on showtime or HBO and a bout between women is shown I'll watch it. I don't follow any women boxers or look forward to their next fight. I hope women's boxing improves for the sake of those who love it and the women who make a living boxing.

i always used to be shocked at how few registered female boxers there are. talking 1-5 in the entire country or less, some weight classes with less than 50 pro boxers registered in the entire world.

Women's boxing is just getting started and promoters are just starting to have at least one women's fight on a card, through time this should improve and more girls will have the opportunity to make a career out of it. I agree with another comment that the women's game needs lighter gloves and 3 minute rounds as well.

In the U.K Hearn has Taylor, Mcguigan has Cameron and Warren has Nicola Adams, Haye has just signed Ruqsana Begum who is a Kickboxing and Muay Thai champion..... so now every promoter with a name is pushing a female. Having said that, only 2 of those girls are in the same division - Taylor and Cameron (WBA and IBO champions respectivey) They are the best 2 fighters IMO, Cameron is like GGG and would really benefit from lighter gloves and 3 minute rounds to get stoppages.

There is a big fight there in the next year between them, 2 rival promoters, it has all the ingredients to make a mark in women's boxing, which is just what it needs, it needs a defining fight, like a male boxer does, but we're talking about a gender lol

Can I just add that this only applies to the U.K.
