Comments Thread For: Verdejo Motivated To 'Shut Some Mouths,' Prove That He's Elite

NEW YORK Felix Verdejo smiled wide when the question was translated for him Wednesday. Yes, the undefeated Verdejo is well aware of what's being said and written about him. That he's never going to live up to the potential the talented contender displayed during the strong start to his professional career. That he can't remain focused or stay healthy long enough to become the next in a long line of iconic Puerto Rican boxers who've won world titles and achieved stardom.

Not going to write him off yet, still only 24 etc, so he might come good. Time will tell.

PR really needs this guy to shine, boxing needs more boricua stars.

What happened to Orlando del Valle?

          Verdejo

The problem here is too much comparison with other greats from PR, still PR have plenty of shine; Pedraza, Diaz, Machado, Acosta with prospect as Lebron, Jeyvier, ortiz, correa, etc...

I was a believer when Verdejo turned pro, IMO he was the best prospect of the olympics after Lomachenko but something was off on his mentality.

Currently - Danny Garcia (I know he's from the states, he's Boricua though)

Joseph "Blessed Hands" Adorno, Subriel "Browny" Matias Matthews, Danielito "El Zorro" Zorrilla, Miguel Cruz, Jesus Rojas, Manny Rodriguez just to name a few more.

Verdejo to me is extremely over rated. TR is trying to position him in the great lineage of PR fighters but IMO he is like Juan Ma-all hype no real substance.
